Guarded Key uses encrypted database to store all your online identities. For each online account you specify Provider (domain), Sign In Id, Password and Login Url (web address used by automatic sign in). This information is encrypted with 4096-bit key which is unique for each user. When starting Guarded Key you enter username and password (this is the only password you have to remember) and the application shows list of all your online accounts. You select an account through touch screen or taskbar icon, the application automatically decrypts information about this account and uses it for automatic sign in. It starts web browser, navigates to login url and enters username and password defined for the account you selected. When done, data in memory is shreded (overwritten with zeros) so that it's not exposed to potential viruses or spyware. Of course nothing can really protect you if spyware is already running on your computer, but we are doing the best to keep decrypted information in memory only as long as necessary and shred it as soon as possible. When you select an account for viewing or editting, it is decrypted and after selecting another account or minimizing the application the data is shredded again. This keeps all your online identities safe, but ready for use.
